Chapter 2
Cases of Prophetic Operations in the Bible
“21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.” Genesis 2:21-22
God was the first Person to introduce the prophetic operations in the way He made Adam and later Eve. What can be more strange and awkward than making a human being from the bone of another person? Is that not magic or satanic as some would claim today?
“20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. 21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22 and the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” Genesis 2:20-23
That is one beautiful thing about God. He does what pleases Him and anyhow He desires to and no one can challenge and question His authority. Can you?
The prophetic operation can be so strange because it defiles all logical reasoning. It’s beyond the five senses of the human personality. The things of the spirit can only be understood by the spiritually discerning.
A woman once sent me a message and complained that she couldn’t sleep at night because some witchcraft birds were shouting at the back of her windows. She had prayed and gone for prayers and nothing happened. After reading her challenge, I receive a divine inspiration of what she should do. I told her to take a handful of salt, read Psalm 35 into it and pour it at the back of her window where the witchcraft birds gathered to disturb her peace with their cries at night.
She did it and that was the end of their meeting there. That is the prophetic for you. She confessed to me she was not willing initially to do it because it was very strange but because she believed in me, she just obeyed and she was amazed they stopped coming to her window again.
“12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.” 1 Corinthians 2:12-15
The Bible is filled with many strange operations that are just so fascinating to the human senses. The problem many have with these operations today is their naïve understanding of who God really is.
Another problem is the way people were brought up in their denominations. Failure to understand the moves and ways of God have left many to remain in the darkness of ignorance.
It takes a measure of spirituality to flow with the prophetic operations of God. Take for example in John 2 at the marriage in Cana, Mary told the disciples,
“His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.” John 2:5
The wines got finished at the wedding, Mary was concerned and she knew she had a super Son who could do the unbelievable. She told her Son about the challenge at hand and even though she was not given a positive reply she simply ignored such and told the servants she brought along to do WHATEVER HE TOLD THEM TO DO. She knew her Son could say some really stupid weird things but His instruction should never be questioned but simply obeyed.
“6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.” John 2:6-7
The servants had heard what Mary told them, so they just obeyed the foolish instruction Jesus gave to them. After filling the jars with water, they thought he would come over to do some things or say some incantations over the water but he simply told them to take it to the master of ceremony.
“And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.”
John 2:8
You might think the above instruction must have been easy for the servants to follow. This was no ordinary marriage ceremony. It was the one of top calibers of people. But they obeyed even though they never knew what was going to happen. The worst that would had happened was to tell the master of ceremony that Jesus was the One who told them to insult their intelligence with the water from the jars. God can never give you an instruction that you will never see results, it is impossible as long as you obey. The servants were surprised when the water turned into the wine and became the best of all as testified by the master of ceremony.
“9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,
10 and saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.” John 2:9-10
Many Christians limit themselves to what their leaders teach them. They don’t crave zealously to encounter God on a personal level. Even when some do they still streamline it to their personal beliefs or their leaders’ beliefs and understanding. Many miss out a lot because they are not sensitive to the Holy Ghost, neither do they know the way of God.
“He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.” Psalm 103:7
You need to understand the fact that God is beyond human comprehension. He reveals Himself to you base on His assignment for your life, your relationship with Him and what you desire to know about Him.
“ 1 Then the LORD said unto Moses, Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh: for with a strong hand
shall he let them go, and with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land.
2 And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD:
3 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.” Exodus 6:1-3
This is amazing. He revealed another side of His to Moses. Jehovah means the Sovereign God. He wanted to show His supremacy over Pharaoh and He did just that.
17 And the Lord said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name. 18 And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory. 19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy. 20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.
21 And the Lord said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:
22 and it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the
rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:
23 and I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.”
Exodus 33:17-23
Moses requested to see God but was only granted permission to see His back. Amazing! God can reveal Himself to you base on His assignment for your life or when you make such a request to know Him the more.
Elisha got to Jericho and was told the water was bad and the land was barren. The water was even causing miscarriages. He simply told them to get him a new cruise (new bowl) with salt. He spoke with divine unction and poured the salt into the stream, it healed the water and the barren land immediately. That is the amazing work of the prophetic.
“19 And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is naught, and the ground barren. 20 And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him.
21 And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the Lord, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.
22 So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake.”2 Kings 2:19-21
When Moses came before the red sea God told him to stretch his rod towards it and it parted into two, Exodus 14.
“And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.” Exodus 14:21
When Joshua came before river Jordan, God told him to tell the priests to take the Ark of the Covenant and step into the river and it was parted into two, Joshua 3.
“14 And it came to pass, when the people removed from their tents, to pass over Jordan, and the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people;
15 and as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (for Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest,)
16 that the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon an heap very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zaretan: and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho.
17 And the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm on dry ground in the midst of Jordan, and all the Israelites passed over on dry ground, until all the people were passed clean over Jordan.” Joshua 3:14-17
Elijah used his mantle to divide the river Jordan into two, 2 King
“And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.” 2 Kings 2:8
The same challenge but different methods. This is the awesome work of God. You can never predict Him. If Joshua had gone to take the rod of Moses to divide the river nothing would had happened. If Elijah had done what Moses or Joshua did nothing would had happened also. This is where sensitivity to the Holy Ghost is highly needed. Just because someone got his miracle through prayers does not mean you will get yours through it also.
There are many medical drugs that can cure headache. The same thing applies to God. If you doubt this read the miracles of Christ healing two blind men via different methods Mark 10:46- 52 and John 9:1-12. Glory to Jesus!
There are so many examples of prophetic operations in The Bible that will stun anyone. They look incredible but God showed His power via such.
“Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.” Matthew 17:27
Can you explain to me how the fish got the money or how the coin entered the fish’s mouth?
This tells you the prophetic instruction is something that must be done by faith and not doubt. Peter ordinarily wouldn’t have gone because there was no bank in the river and no fish was a bank cashier neither was any atm machine in the river. But He knew the Master too well to doubt let alone disobey Him.
“3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing. 4 But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.
5 Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No. 6 And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.”
John 21:3-6
The apostles toiled all night on the sea but caught nothing until the Master showed up in the morning and instructed them to cast the net on the other side and they caught more than enough. Were the fishes not in the river? They were but refused to be caught in the trap but under divine command, they had no choice than to rush into the net. Had they failed to obey His instruction, they would have caught nothing. The same similar incident took place in Luke 5:1-13
Many argue blindly that such operations are limited to the Old Testament and there is nothing of such in the New Testament. Such people make me wonder if they read their Bibles thoroughly or they are just been biased. Let’s see few ones in the New Testament to balance things up.
“34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? 35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.” Luke 1:34-35
This is just beyond human comprehension. It had never happened in the history of mankind but God ….. Go get your copy of this Uncommon Book @
