THE UNTOLD TRUTH ABOUT MARITAL COMMUNICATION

 


Communication is the lifeline for any successful relationship be it spiritual or physical. In marriage communication is the lifeline of marital harmony. It's the fuel that ignites the passion of love and care in the marriage institution. A lot has been said about communication in marriage by great marital counselors yet the chaos witness daily in marital crises and breakdown is greatly alarming.

Communication in marriage is not limited to vocal expression alone, although that is highly important. I am looking at the untold dimension of marital communication which is really the cause of marital breakdown. Mind communication is the greatest secret to marital success.

While one may express feelings in words, actions it may not really be the true reflection of what is going on within the partner. As a result of this, tension builds up within which alters the direction and energy of thoughts. Marriage is sustained by thoughts and imaginations not really by outward actions. When couples' thoughts are harmonious, that is the mindset as per the marriage is filled with positive projections, it is difficult for such marriage to collapse.

One can therefore say the true pillar of marital success is mind-communication. Thoughts are energies that can be used positively or negatively. A certain trend of thoughts brought the marriage into existence, it will require equal or greater thoughts to sustain the marriage and enjoy marital bliss. Your marriage becomes your thoughts with time. There are lots of things couples are not vocal about but project such through the mind. Your partner becomes what you think predominantly about him. This is just the truth. Those things you say or think in your mind about your spouse can either solidify your marriage or weaken your marriage.

The unspoken word within is stronger than the spoken word without. The unspoken word within is empowered by the will and feeling aspect of the subconscious mind. When you see couples quarrel and one of them becomes really angry and making negative remarks about the other partner that is only a fraction of what has been built within. It's like a volcanic eruption. The one you see is only a fraction of what is submerged within.

When your mindset becomes corrupt with anger, hatred, jealousy, bitterness etc. , you are likely to see loopholes to assert your negative mindset. Unknown to you dangerous communication is going on between you and your partner. Your partner may not be aware initially but gradually he will begin to respond in kind, especially if you have a stronger mindset power that him. When he begins to respond to your communication unconsciously that will then reinforce your beliefs about the negative conviction you are having. This can also be from the man to the woman. Since your mind communication has become negative, it will affect the way you now view things in your marriage. You begin to get what you expect not what you truly want or desire. In reality, your partner automatically meets your expectation.

The more negative your mind becomes, the more negative your marriage becomes also. The issue is not with your partner but with you. It means you need to take a sober look of your mindset towards your marriage and change it. Chaotic marriage can work if couples will humble themselves and be sincere about their true inner feelings to one another. Express the negative feelings you are having to your partner, no matter how hurting it may be. In most cases your mindset has been controlled by assumptions not reality.

When all have been said, couples should forgive each other and ask for the grace of God for courage to keep the mind thinking and communicating the right thing. The mind should be centered on reading The Bible, good books and tapes. Above all couples should learn to practice meditation and visualization. See your partner the way you want her to be and with time you will see such manifesting in your partner's life. The untold marital mind communication when handled wisely will produce great marital tranquility.

TRUE SPIRITUALITY PART 2

 

Like I said in part one, true spirituality is more than going to church, demonstrating the gifts of the Spirit and been busy in one activity or the other in the church. It has nothing to do with your title, the seed, offering and tithes you pay in the church. 

It is beyond the human mind. Only a few really desire to go deeper with their Lord Jesus. Many are just comfortable with their shallow 

 Christian lifestyles and living. You must break free from such circle if you really want To enjoy God to the fullest not in terms of money, wealth, health etc. but in times of maximum relationship with your heavenly Father.

When you begin to enter this realm you will know because your strong desire will be to know Him intimately (Ps.103:7, Ps.42:1-2).

“As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?” (Psalms 42:1-2)

 Your serving Him will no longer be based on what He can for you but because you love Him (Ps.91:14, 1Jn.4:15-21).

“Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.” (Psalms 91:14)

You begin to fear the awesomeness of God and tremble at His Word. Brokenness is no longer something you struggle with, you just have to be broken (Isaiah 66:2, 5; Psalm 51:17).

“For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word. Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name's sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.” (Isaiah 66:2, 5)

No matter the trials and tribulations you face, your faith in God is not shaken like myself who had lost three sons and my spouse had undergone five CS operations. In all these we still say BLESSED BE OUR GOD AND WHAT CAN SEPERATE US FROM THE LOVE OF GOD (Job 1:20-22,Rom.8:35-39).

 “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:35-39)

Your life becomes strange to many believers because they don't understand your level of commitment to the Word of God. True spirituality makes you a spiritual commandant and a dangerous vessel in the hands of God. Demons fear you because you radiate the divine presence of God empowered by holy living.Your gifting’s are not just based on CHARISMA BUT WITH CHARACTERS.

Finally, THE TRUE TEST OF SPIRITUALITY IS HUMILITY (Phil.2:6-8, 1Pt.5:5-6, James 4:10). Anyone who claims to be spiritual and does not exhibit humility is only a fake. There is no place for self and pride in God’s kingdom. You can only have that in the satanic world. All true kingdom minded believers know fully well without the help of the Holy Spirit they are nothing but dust.

JESUS REMAINS THE CHIEF SUPREME COMMANDER OF THE UNIVERSE 

TRUE SPIRITUALITY PART 1

Am alarmed at so many Christians who think that demonstrating the gifts of the Spirit makes them spiritual (Read, 1Corinthians.1:5-7, 3:1-3).

“That in everything ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge; Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: SO THAT YE COME BEHIND IN NO GIFT; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:” (1 Corinthians 1:5-7)

“And I, brethren, could not speak unto you AS UNTO SPIRITUAL, BUT AS UNTO CARNAL, even as unto BABES IN CHRIST. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. FOR YE ARE YET CARNAL: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?” (1 Corinthians 3:1-4)

How on earth can Paul call such gifted charismatic Christians carnal people? Your guess is as good as mine. There are those who think by been given titles or busy in their churches working for God mean they are spiritual. Noop!!!

While all these things are good, it's no sure sign of spirituality. Spirituality has to do with your personal understanding and relationship with God via The Holy Spirit (1John.1:1-7, Hebrews.12:22-24, John.16:12-16).

“That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.” (1 John 1:1-3)

Your understanding about God affects everything about your life. You can't encounter God and remain carnally minded (Isaiah 6:1-8, Acts 9:1-6).

“Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts” (Isaiah 6:5)

The euphoria people experience when they feel the awesome presence of God is just a tip of the ice-berg when you are truly spiritual. Spirituality makes you Christ-like and God-like (Phil.2:5, 3:10).

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 2:5)

It catapults you into a realm that you begin to see things the way God sees them (Isa.55:8-11). You are no longer in the Outer Court or Holy Place, you now dwell in the Holy of Holies where the Ark of God-His Divine Presence, Manna-Divine Revelation, Aaron’s Rod-Divine Authority etc. (Heb.9:1-8). You see yourself as nothing but only living by His mercy (Isa.6:1-5).

In such realm of spirituality, your concern is LORD, LET THY WILL BE DONE (Mark 14:34-36, Heb.10:6-9).

“And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.” (Mark 14:36)

Things of the earth mean nothing to you (Col.3:1-4, Math.6:19-21). You don't look down or compete with anyone. The only competition you have is becoming your best for God. This is the level God desires for His children.

“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.” (Colossians 3:1-3)

Dare to start this journey with God? Spend more time in studying the Word, meditating on it, reflecting on the essence of life and discipline yourself to live a divine pleasing life.

With time your perception of life will greatly change and you will begin to experience spiritual visitation from God. Struggling with sin will be reduced to an inconsequential level. Your life will take on a new meaning as you begin to experience an awesome joy in your walk with God and your work for Him.
